Free consultation
Most projects start off with an initial consultation lasting up to 30 mins. This is often over a video call, but I am happy to meet in central London over a cup of coffee! During the consultation I will listen and gather information about your project. I will assist by providing expert guidance and useful ideas to help define your requirements. Afterwards I will put together a proposal with some options and relevant budgets for you to consider.

Conceptual Development
Once we’ve agreed to work together, I will usually help to refine your project further, developing ideas and reviewing the conceptual elements. I care very much to ensure your film is a success, so I will always provide valuable insights and unique ideas. I regularly work with agencies or marketing departments, so will integrate as part of your team. At this stage we may produce a mood board or gather references from other films so we have a strong mutual understanding of our direction.

Pre-Production Planning
I am meticulous about planning because in my decades of experience this is a vital ingredient to any project’s success. So much of any creative process is down to decisions, some planned and some serendipitous. If you plan well, you’ll have plenty of time to embrace unplanned opportunities which often enhance a project. Whether planning logistics or preparing crew and talent, doing it well enables clear thinking and efficient organisation on a shoot.

Video Production
The filming of a video project takes place either in a studio or on location and involves a host of specialist equipment. As the director I am hands-on overseeing all the camera work, lighting, sound recording, production design and any performances or interviews. The exact crew and resources involved will depend on the size and complexity of the project, however I always work with a highly-skilled and efficient team.

Post Production Editing
Back in the studio is where the biggest part of any video production project takes place. He we curate the raw footage, editing visuals, dialogue and other sounds. This is refined with sound mixing, sound design, colour grading, special effects, titles and graphics. It’s a significant task to coordinate involving lots of meticulous judgements that usually go unseen by the client. Like any piece of craftsmanship it is a labour of love in the pursuit of a worthy goal.

Studio Animation
If your project involves any animation, whether this is in addition to live action or as a pure animation video, the studio work is even more involved. Typically, animation entails the creation of vectors or models which are then mapped in a 2D or 3D space to create paths and actions. This motion is paired with sound, special effects and music like any other film. The important thing with animation is to have clarity and agreement at each stage to avoid costly revisions. I will guide you through this.
